We're very excited that Jonathon Stephens with Stock Pile Reports has agreed to present "Drones + Photogrammetry: Aerial Intelligence in Forestry Resources" at our next meeting, Thursday, October 11 at 6:00 p.m. at Sticky Fingers in Summerville. Jonathon provided a description of what he will present at the meeting:
"The advent of automous drones and cloud based data processing centers has brought the possibility of near real time data analysis using consumer based cameras. In this presentation, we will provide a quick overview of how photogrammetry works and what can be modeled using basic smartphone cameras. We take the topic a step farther and discuss the possibilities in forestry when cameras are integrated into drones. We discuss the different types of drones on the market and what the pros and cons of each are. We go most in depth into inventory tracking and site change monitoring using a consumer drone. Lastly, we discuss the other applications that a drone can be used for in forestry and what services are available."
This presentation has been submitted for CFEs.
We will also discuss the progress of the forestry exhibit at Bee City.
Mark your calendars and plan to attend this event!
