Upcoming Chapter and State Events:

Hello Fellow Rappahannock Chapter of SAF Members,

Please join us for the next chapter meeting Wednesday November 9, 2011 at the Parkway Restaurant in Mechanicsville.  The guest speaker will be: Charlie Wade. And the title of his presentation: Erosion Control Measures on Skid Trails, will discuss the effectiveness of different closure BMPs for skid trails.  He will also discuss the use and accuracy of several erosion models for predicting erosion rates on skid trails.   The models to be reviewed include the Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE), Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation (RUSLE), and the Water Erosion Prediction Project (WEPP).  The information discussed stems from his master’s research project.

Mr. Wade received his B.S. in Forestry from Virginia Tech in 2007 and M.S. from Virginia Tech in 2010.  His graduate research was evaluating forestry BMPs on bladed skid trails.  His work experience includes a forestry co-op with Glatfelter Paper in southeast Ohio, procurement forester with Cranberry Hardwoods in northeast TN, and currently works with FRM, Inc..
