June 22-23, 2016
Hampton Inn on the Lake at Harbison
Columbia, SC

Hosted by the Central Carolina Chapter

The Appalachian Society of American Foresters, South Carolina Division's 2016 summer meeting will focus Federal Policies and Regulations Impacting Forest Management in South Carolina. The technical session will review some of those policies and their impacts management in South Carolina. A wide range of topics will be covered including visa issues involving tree planters, herbicides as a point source, regulatory developments associated with water and forest roads, biomass energy, fighting wildfires and smoke's impact on air quality.

The field trip will be a tour of Congaree National Park (CNP). At 12:45 p.m. on Wednesday, June 22, Central Carolina Chapter sponsored vans will provide transportation to CNP for a tour highlighting the prescribed burning efforts of the CNP staff; converting Loblolly stands to Longleaf pine ecosystems; and restoring Rd Cockaded Woodpecker Habitat. The tour should return to Columbia at approximately 6:00 p.m.
