Past Events
- August 21, 2009 - Triangle Chapter exhibit at Loggin' Demo held at the State Fair grounds in Raleigh, NC. Members took shifts volunteering at the exhibit during the day. Triangle Chapter gave short announcement about SAF, the K.P Funderburke fund, and teamwork with the NC Association of Professional Loggers
.
- April 8, 2009 - NCSU Student SAF hosted a Triangle Chapter meeting on campus in Jordan Hall Addition. Hearty buffet dinner was provided, followed by three excellent student research and events presentations. Triangle Chapter "passed the coffee can" for donations among the attendees to go toward the student chapter's national SAF convention travel fund.
- March 21, 2009 - Arbor Day Celebration hosted by NCSU College of Natural Resources. Event was hosted in the east parking lot of Jordan Hall Addition. NCSU Student Chapter held a seedling give-away, Triangle Chapter held a plant adoption clinic where members donated native forest plants and trees, and then offered them to the public (and lots of kids).
- January 23, 2009 - Rendez-vous at ApSAF Winter Meeting to discus the March 21st, 2009 native plant and tree giveaway and ask for members to start potting up their donations for the tent next to Jordan Hall Adition at NC STate campus. Plants will be "adopted" by local kids and teachers.
- December 2008 - The holiday gathering at the Dogwood Lodge in Camp New Hope is a long-standing tradition that brings together student and professional members one last time before the calendar flips to the New Year. It's a potluck affair that has the feel of a little family reunion. This year we had a couple of added attractions: a wreath-making workshop and live music!
- Chapter Meeting - May 7th, 2008, Garden Gate Cafe, 1411 Aversboro Rd, Garner, NC. Guest speaker Dennis Habel, Assistant Professor and Extension SPecialist, NC State University. Dennis has been leading the effort to research and promote the opportunity for NC forest landowners in the burgeoning bio-energy market. He will bring us up to date on his research and what recent state and federal energy policy will mean to forest management in NC.
- Triangle Chapter Seedling Giveaway: April 19th, 2008, Museum of Natural Sciences, 11 W. Jones St., Raleigh, NC. Weyerhauser Company donated 2000 seedlings for distribution to the public as part of the Museum's Earth Day celebration.
